>Brutally honest photo series shows the many faces of turmoil in today’s UkraineConflict and civil war are tearing through The Ukraine, transforming it into a turbulent nation on which the eye of the world is fixed. Journey Through Ukraine, by Kieran Kesner, is an enlightening photo series. As well as the violent demonstrations, mobs and gangs of militia, Kesner shows that there are still people in the fields and cyclists on the roads. Kesner met with a variety of individuals in order to understand their point of view and listen to their stories.
‘Ukraine offers incredible contrasts’ says Kesner on his website. ‘Reality and truth contrasted by propaganda and prejudice. Corruption contrasted by new, hopefully more just, government. Violence contrasted against beauty. In the midst of all this stand people, once united by blood and a love for their country, now torn apart by politics and a struggle for power.’
